Asheboro Country Club
A true long-ball hitters paradise. Asheboro Country Club sits at just under 6,500 yards, this par 71 has scoring in bunches. If you are looking for a relaxing, fun-filled round then look no further.
The layout is pretty normal, but beware, trees line the entire golf course and provide a bit of defense throughout. When stepping onto the 1st tee, you will be greeted with a straight forward layout, and a very good opportunity to open the round with a birdie. The second hole provides a bit of a test, with a slight dog-leg left, and a tight landing area to the right side of the fairway. If you are able to navigate your way through, a birdie is a strong possibility. The next few holes are pretty straight-forward, and provide little challenge that is, until you reach the daunting par 5 8th hole. This one is a bit of a challenge, with a pond that runs up the entire left side of the fairway, and defends the hole from being reached in two shots, unless you are daring. The water does not stop here, and strategically placed ponds defend the short back nine as well. Holes 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, and 18 all have water, and you need to be very careful when approaching these holes, especially the par 4 18th hole that sits over 400 yards, and has water up the entire right side. You have to keep your drive left, and the second shot has to be missed left, or water is imminent. With that said, the back nine is not long, and has little defense aside from the water. If you are able to navigate your way to the fairways, you will be rewarded with ample scoring opportunities. I would not recommended passing up on this hidden gem in Asheboro, because you may be passing up on some really strong golf.
