California Golf Club Course Review
The California Golf Club is a private resort which has a rich history, as it was founded way back in 1918 at a different location, South West of San Francisco in Ingleside respectively, on a land-lease from the local water company. As they were unable to extend their lease, the California Golf Club managed to purchase 425 acres of real estate in 1924, down the Peninsula and thats where the Cal (thats what they call it) still stands proudly today. The landscape where the California Golf Club is located is astoundingly beautiful, as it was initially an intrinsic part of the Baden Farm. The golf course spreads like a snake on the areas rolling hills, offering an epic view of the Bay. Basically, the California Golf Club stands in the perfect spot, making for the ideal setting if you want to enjoy a world-class game of golf on a world-class piece of real estate. The original bunkering wears the signature of A. Vernon Macan and Willie Locke. The bunkering was redesigned later by Alister MacKenzie, together with 2 or more greens, just before he started working at Cypress Point Club.
The California Golf Club course was totally restored a few years ago, in 2008 by Kyle Phillips and now it looks just as good as in its golden age sort to speak, boasting an outstandingly beautiful design with a touch of grandeur. The California Golf Club is absolutely unique in Northern California for its firm and fast playing conditions. Keep in mind that the Cal is a walk only golf course but caddies are available if requested. Also, appropriate golf attire (no denim/shorts) is absolutely required.
