If you’re into golf-bling, look no further than Haywoodgolf’s latest extravaganza. To begin with, Haywoodgolf is a recently formed company, and despite their short run in the industry, they already made some waves in the golf equipment world. Their latest limited edition 24-karat gold-coated clubs which include irons, wedges, and a brand new putter is a statement to the fact that 2020 is the year of excesses, ranging from high-bling golf-equipment to global pandemics like the infamous coronavirus which is marketed in mass media like Jesus Christ’s second coming.
All jokes aside, each new clubhead in the Haywoodgolf’s new collection is literally covered in 24 karat gold, and unlike other standard gold plated gear, the company boasts 10-microns of 24-karat gold, which is five-fold the “regular” 2-microns. The gold plating not only looks, let’s say interesting, but it also confers the clubs excellent durability to wear and tear.
The new range of gold plated clubs includes an all-new (gold plated, obviously) putter, which besides its golden appearance comes with a flat stick featuring CNC milled dual weights (removable, of course). Under the golden hood, the putter is made from high quality 303 stainless steel and contains 3-degrees of loft, 72-degrees of lie angle, weighing 350 grams. What about the cost, you asked? Well, considering the pure-gold appearance and all that, Haywoodgolf’s asking price is $550, which, truth be told, it’s not much for such a masterpiece. The golden irons are crafted in 2-piece hollow body design from soft 431 stainless steel. What’s interesting is that the company employed a special technique with these irons, i.e. the body is welded to a hard 17-4 stainless steel face, which has been specially heat-treated, with the end result being a big-boost in distance. If you're interested, the new set of gold plated irons start at $2500 per set.
The signature gold-plated wedges are built using S20C carbon steel (forged) and they come with CNC milled grooves, which are designed for maximum control and soft feel, being available in 52, 56 and 60-degree loft options and starting at $339.
