The N.S. Pro 950GH Neo is a very interesting lightweight steel shaft released recently by Nippon, and it marks the company's twentieth anniversary of the original version, which is pretty interesting for golf aficionados. In case you didn't know, the original Nippon N.S. Pro 950GH shaft is the most successful and also best selling lightweight steel irons shaft (under 100 grams) in tour history, and thus Nippon celebrated the 20th anniversary of its prodigal child by launching the N.S.Pro 950GH Neo.
The latest lightweight steel shaft from Nippon was not designed just to pay homage to its illustrious predecessor. According to Nippon Golf's marketing team, the N.S.Pro 950GH Neo is billed as Reawakened and it features several updates that are aimed at adapting the shaft to the modern changes in golf, as well as to the new distance balls. Just to give you an example, the new N.S.Pro 950GH Neo comes with a firmer tip section, that compared to the original shaft, and thus it offers higher launch (not much, but a 1 to 2-degree difference) and a bit more spin. The new shaft also has a firmer midsection which is designed to help stabilizing newer club heads throughout the swing, as well as helping with keeping acceleration through the swing.
We must also mention the softer butt, which is now narrower in diameter, from the original .600 to .610. The diameter reduction is claimed to enhance feel; speaking of neo (new in Greek), the same goes for the shaft's signature profile, which has been redesigned and it now features an eye-catching green color, as compared to the former silver/chrome colorway. The 20th-anniversary model is building on the success of its predecessor, which has been sold in over forty million units over the last twenty years and boasts more than two hundred Tour victories.
Finally, the new N.S. Pro 950GH Neo steel shaft will complement the TaylorMade P·790 Ti irons as a stock option and it's offered in 4 flexes with weights ranging from 94.5 grams to 98 grams, R flex, and S flex respectively, or even 104 grams in X flex. And, the most important thing for our users: the Neo Pro costs $35 per unit.
