The Callaway GBB Epic Sub Zero Fairway Wood retails for $279.99 (MSRP) and it’s very similar to its vanilla sibling, the Epic (sans sub-zero). However, there are a few subtle differences to be taken into account. First, the Callaway GBB Epic Sub Zero is significantly more forgiving yet equally fast and low spinning, thus promoting a unique melange of control and distance which is made possible by the company’s latest technologies incorporated into its built. I am talking about the state of the art Hyper Speed Cup, the triaxial carbon composite material, the adjustable weighting and, last but not least, the highly innovative Speed Step technology. The crown of the Callaway GBB Epic Sub Zero is made up using the same triaxial carbon composite which is to be found in drivers, aimed at dramatically reducing its weight with almost eighty percent, hence allowing for discretionary weight to be relocated to the club, thus helping with lowering the center of gravity.

The Callaway GBB Epic Sub Zero has the same 3D printed Speed Step technology which improves aerodynamics leading to a faster head speed. The Callaway GBB Epic Sub Zero comes with 2 sole weights which are interchangeable and using them you can easily adjust both spin and ball flight. The upgraded face uses the latest generation Hyper Speed Face Cup gizmo, allowing for a more uniform rebound on ball impact, thus leading to an improvement in terms of ball speed and, as a logical consequence, more distance. As always, the Callaway GBB Epic Sub Zero looks and feels awesome, adding playability and more forgiveness to an already epic fairway wood, and I am talking about the regular Callaway GBB Epic of course. Even if the Callaway GBB Epic Sub Zero Fairway Wood hasn’t seen the same uber high tech technological advancements as the driver, it still marks for a significant improvement compared to previous models and it’s definitely worth a try this season.
