The Callaway XR 16 Pro retails for $399,99 (MSRP) and it falls into the “better player” category. What makes the Callaway XR 16 Pro different from the regular model, i.e. the XR 16, is the deeper face and the slightly more compact club-head (450cc), together with a center of gravity which is more neutral. Also, the Callaway XR 16 Pro features lower ball-speeds than the standard version, yet it still comes with great amounts of stability and forgiveness, thanks to its deep and low center of gravity. The Callaway XR 16 Pro comes with a Fujikura Evolution 2 TS 665 shaft as a standard and, very important, benefits from the same high-end design and built for offering the players the maximum amounts of speed and forgiveness expected from a top-tier driver.
Actually, compared with the previous generation, the Callaway XR 16 Pro driver is significantly better and you'll definitely feel the difference (an incremental evolution actually) during your swings, thanks to the driver's improved aerodynamics. Callaway turned to Boeing, which are experts in the field of aerodynamics, in order to create a better design/shape of the crown, which now boasts with its thirty percent less air resistance, together with ten percent less for the club-face, compared to the previous XR 15. All these improvements translate into more distance and more speed, and let's not forget the thinner and lighter club-face, which also contributes to ball-speed, distance and forgiveness. The moment of inertia (MOI) was also enhanced by the weight which is now positioned deeper and lower in the club-head. All these changes offer a center of gravity which is now fifteen percent lower when compared to the XR 15 driver, together with a ten percent higher moment of inertia. The Boeing involvement in Callaway's new XR linee design made for a lower spin/higher launch/larger at address driver, with an increased moment of inertia, with faster ball speeds across the face and, in the Pro, for tons of control without sacrificing forgiveness. Bottom line, if you're looking for a solid driver, with loads of forgiveness and higher launch without balooning, the Callaway XR 16 Pro is an excellent choice.
