Born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, in 1974, Ridings was introduced to the world of golf by his father who was a club professional. After high school Ridings attended University of Arkansas, where he continued to play. He graduated from college with a degree in marketing in 1997, and turned professional later that same year.

Since turning professional Ridings has played on both the Nationwide Tour and the PGA Tour. His best year on the PGA Tour was 2005, when he finished in 91st place on the Tour money list. Although, his best finish on the Tour, as of the end of 2014, was a tie for second place, at the Michelin Championship at Las Vegas, in 2004.

As of the end of 2014, Ridings had yet to achieve a win on the PGA Tour, but had amassed total prize money of $4,222,105.
