Born in Cincinnati in 1967, Flesch was a pupil at Covington Catholic High School in Park Hills, Kentucky before graduating and attending the University of Kentucky where he played golf. After graduating from college, Flesch turned professional in 1990.
Early in his professional career, Flesch played on the Asian Tour where he finished in the top ten of the Order of Merit on three occasions. In 1997 he was victorious in the Nike Tour Championship which meant that he secured himself a place on the PFGA Tour for the following season. It was not until 2003 that Flesch secured his first win on the PGA tour, at the HP Classic of New Orleans. One of his most famous performances on the Tour was his victory from behind at the Bank of America Colonial in Fort Worth, Texas, in 2004. Four years later, at the Masters Tournament in 2008, Flesch impressed with a strong performance which saw him finish in a tie for fifth place.
As of the end of 2014, Flesch had achieved four wins on the PGA Tour, amassing total prize money of $18,160,142.
