Lance Ten Broeck went from the south side of Chicago to the University of Texas and was a two-time All-American on the Longhorn golf team. He turned pro after college in 1977.

Despite his impressive college resume, Ten Broeck was your classic golf journeyman. Over the course of his career, he played in 349 PGA events. To his credit, Ten Broeck made the cut in 46% (159 of 349) of these tournaments. Unfortunately, Ten Broeck failed to win a single tournament. He finished alone in 2nd place at the 1991 Chattanooga Classic, his best performance as a member of the PGA Tour.

Ten Broeck did win an unofficial event – the 1984 Magnolia State Classic, a tournament which went on to become an official tour stop.

Ten Broeck loved the game and when his days as an active player of the PGA began to wane, he began caddying for other PGA professionals. Ten Broeck was on the bag for Robert Allenby and Jesper Parnevik.

Ten Broeck benefited from the steady increase in PGA purses over the years. In fact, he made more money in a single year as a caddie ($235,000) than he did during his best year on the PGA Tour — $146,568 during the 1989 season.

Ten Broeck began playing the Champions Tour in 2005. In 2007, he had his best season on, making the cut in all 7 of the tournaments he entered and winning more than $110,000.

In 2012, Ten Broeck made a strong run at the Senior U.S. Open. He held the lead after 36 holes before fading on the weekend. He finished in a tie for 9th place.

Ten Broeck also played occasionally on what is now the Web.com Tour. His best finish there was a 5th place at the 1994 Nike Shreveport Open.
