The son of a military man, Kris Blanks called Georgia, Texas, Nebraska, Montana and Virginia home during his childhood.

Kris Blanks began playing the Nationwide Tour in 2005 and played there in 2007 and 2008 as well. In 2008, he won the Bank of America Open and that victory propelled him to a 13th place finish on the Nationwide Tour money list, earning him his PGA tour card for the 2009 season.

Blanks made 9 cuts in 2009 and 15 cuts in 2010. He made over $1.3 million in the 2010 season.

Blanks’ top two finishes as a PGA touring pro were a pair of runner-up performances at the 2010 Puerto Rico Open and the 2011 RBC Canadian Open. Unfortunately, Blanks’ overall performance was too inconsistent to earn the money necessary to retain his card, and he found himself back at the PGA qualifying school tournament at the end of 2012 where he failed to retain his tour card.

In 2013, it was back to golf’s second tier, now the Web.com Tour.

Blanks earned his second professional win at the Web.com’s Chitimacha Louisiana Open in 2014. Blanks survived a three-hole playoff to win the $99,000 first prize and he celebrated with dinner at Taco Bell.

He then fueled up his automobile and began driving to Houston where he played in that week’s Shell Houston Open – such is the life of a journeyman professional. Blanks played in 8 events on the PGA Tour in 2014 but only made a single cut.

Blanks’ wife Tami was a former golf professional at Sea Pines Country Club in Hilton Head, South Carolina and a former standout on the Ohio State Lady Buckeyes golf team.
