Dudley Hart played high school golf at Archbishop Curley-Notre Dame in Miami, Florida. Hart joined the University of Florida Gator golf team and excelled in his collegiate years. He was selected SEC Freshman of the Year and ended up being a 4-time All American.
Hart turned pro after college and earned his tour card for the 1991 PGA season. Hart waited 5 long years before getting his first PGA victory at the Bell Canadian Open. He would wait 4 years after that for his second win at the 2000 Honda Classic.
While Hart did not win a lot on tour, his consistent play led to a great career when he wasn’t battling injuries. Hart recorded 55 top ten performances between the years 1991 and 2009. Injuries and his wife’s cancer treatments disrupted his career in 2007, but he bounced back in a big way in 2008, earning more than $2 million on his way to winning the PGA’s Comeback Player of the Year Award.
In 2009 his career was interrupted once again by spinal fusion surgery which was followed by a second surgery to correct mistakes made during the first operation. That kept him off the tour for 3 years and he has played less than a dozen PGA tournaments since that time. He’s played 6 PGA tournaments so far in 2015. He made the cut at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am but has missed the cut in his past few tournaments.
Hart’s best performances in Majors include a tie for 6th place at the 1993 PGA Championship and a tie for 12th place at the 2002 U.S. Open.
