Levi turned pro in 1973 after attending Oswego State University and briefly the University of South Florida. He claimed the first of twelve PGA Tour wins in 1978 at the Walt Disney World National Team Championship with partner Bob Mann. His standout season was in 1990 when he ended a five year winless drought when claiming the BellSouth Atlanta Golf Classic. He won three more times that season with his one shot victory at the Canadian Open being the last event he would win on Tour. That year he was honoured with the PGA Tour Player of the Year award.

After the spectacular 1990 season, Levi qualified for the 1991 Ryder Cup team in what would be his sole appearance at the team event. The famous tie at Kiawah Island resulted in the United States team winning 14.5 points to 13.5 points. Levi lost both of the matches he was involved in. He partnered Lanny Wadkins when they lost 3&1 in the Saturday four balls to the European partnership of Mark James and Steven Richardson. Levi then lost his singles match to the great Seve Ballesteros 3&2. Levi never made a top 10 in a Major and didn’t play in the British Open at all. His best finish in a Major was a tie for 11th at the 1985 US Masters.

Levi started playing on the Champions Tour in 2002. He has two Champions Tour wins to his name; the 2003 3M Championship and the 2004 Constellation Energy Classic. Despite being 63 years old and recently having double bypass surgery, Levi still plays tournaments on the Champions Tour.
