Shanshan Feng was born in China and has played golf on professional tours all over the globe. She is the first Chinese woman to become a full-time member of the LPGA Tour which she joined in 2008, a year after she turned professional.
Feng’s father worked for their hometown golf association and introduced Shanshan to the game when she was just 10 years old. Feng was still an amateur when she played in the LPGA’s qualifying tournament in December 2007. She placed in the top ten that week and earned her spot on tour for the 2008 season.
Feng has 4 victories on both the LPGA Tour and Ladies European Tour and 5 wins on the Japanese LPGA Tour. Her resume includes one Major championship – the 2012 Women’s PGA Championship. She also tied for second at the 2014 Women’s British Open. On the Ladies European Tour, Feng is a two-time champion of the Omega-Dubai Ladies Masters, winning it in 2012 and 2014.
Feng’s victory at the Women’s PGA Championship was historic. She became the first man or woman from mainland China to win a Major championship. Feng fired a 67 in the final round without a single bogey on her scorecard.
Feng finished the 2014 season ranked #5 in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings. She had an incredibly consistent 2014 season, making the cut in all 24 of her starts, winning the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia Championship and recording 12 top tens.
Shanshan’s nickname is “Jenny.” Away from the course, Feng enjoys playing computer games and visiting with friends.
