Golf runs in Haas’s family; his father was Jay Haas who also played on the PGA Tour. Both his father, and his uncle Jerry played golf at Wake Forest University, and Haas followed in their footsteps. He had a successful College career, and was three times All American, before turning to professional golf in 2004.
Haas initially played on the Nationwide Tour, but gained his first PGA Tour card at the end of 2005, for the 2006 Tour season. Haas didn’t achieve any wins during his first PGA season; his best result was finishing joint fourth at the Wachovia Championship, and his inaugural season ended with him finishing in 104th place on the money list. It was 2009 before Haas’s success level began to improve. He achieved four finishes in the Top 10 that season, and finished in 61st position on the money list.
It was the following season when Haas achieved his first PGA Tour win, at the Bob Hope Classic in La Quinta, California. This earned him an appearance at the Masters where he finished in joint 26th place. Further wins came for Haas in 2011, at the Tour Championship and at the Northern Trust Open in 2012.
Haas continued to have some level of success on The Tour, winning the AT&T National in 2013. In 2014 he was, at one point, in lead position at the Masters, but eventually finished in a tie for 20th place.
Even though he has been away from The Tour with a fractured wrist, Haas still managed to achieve his sixth Tour win, at Humana Challenge in January 2015.
As of the end of 2014, Haas had achieved six PGA Tour wins, amassing total prize money of $20,416,477.
