Spokane, Washington born Prugh played golf as a member of the school team and while at the University of Washington. He spent his younger years building on his skills to prepare him for a future career in the professional ranks.
His professional career has seen him playing on the Nationwide Tour and the Web.com Tour, as well as the PGA Tour. His best finish while playing the PGA Tour was at the 2010 Frys.com Open. Although he made the cut in only four of sixteen events on the 2013/2014 PGA Tour Prugh finished in 41st place in Web.com Tour Finals, earning him his card for the 2013/2015 PGA Tour Season. He has yet to really put his stamp of the PGA Tour, having limited success.
Within golf Alex lists his biggest thrill as playing at the US Open. Off the course he is a keen skier, which presents a very different type of thrill. His family owns a ski cabin at Schweitzer in northern Idaho, so he has plenty of opportunity to indulge in this passion.
As far as his passion for golf is concerned, Prugh inherited that from his father, and has been influenced throughout his career by the healthy rivalry with Andres Gonzales, a Web.com Tour player. He was a rival of Pugh’s at high school and Pugh still regards him as a hero in his life. All of the Pugh family except his mother, play golf. His father, mother and brother all played at university.
As of the end of 2014, Prugh had competed in 74 PGA tour events and was yet to achieve a win. He has won a total of $1,655,282 in earnings over his Tour career.
