Should I Consider Golf Course Management On Par s Or Just Go For It? (Video) - by Natalie Adams

Should I consider golf course management on par 5s or just go for it? Well here, it really just depends on the hole that you’re playing and the situation that you find yourself in as you’re playing down that hole. I generally say with par 5s you want to go for it, because the long holes you need to hit the ball as far as you possibly can. If you are a bigger hitter it provides you with a great opportunity to get onto the green in two shots and set yourself up with an eagle opportunity rather than a par. If you’re not such a longer hitter, you need to be going for it with every shot so that you get the maximum out of that shot to get down that longer par 5, but it just depend on the situation. You need to be playing the hole, so you’re talking the lowest number of shots possible to complete that hole. You need to be as efficient as possible with your golf shots. So, if you’ve got into a position where there’s a very high risk shot being taken on and you’ve got a much easier shot just to chip back out, get yourself back into position on the hole and then play another shot, that could be the answer but it really does depends on the situation. So consider what situation you’re in, consider the risk reward of each shot that you’re taking on, but generally I would say on par 5s just go for it.
