Once you achieve this fully loaded backswing position, which we've already spoken about, moving down into the ball, moving down to impact in a manner which is not going to cause bad golf shots is very, very important. Now this period of the swing between the backswing and the downswing when it gets going is the transition. And that transition into the downswing is very, very important. What a lot of people struggle with, and what a lot of people get confused with is as they get up to the top of the backswing, into that nice loaded position into that right side, that big body turn ready to get down into impact and fire through. What a lot of people get confused about is they try and hit the ball so hard from the top of the backswing. They feel they've done all the work; they've got themselves loaded up they're ready to go, and then they launch themselves at the golf ball.

Now that might give, and it might look like quite a strong powerful movement, but you're actually inhibiting yourself in delivering a good amount of power just by simply throwing the body at the ball. So focusing on the transition and making that transition smooth is going to be very, very key. Now the key swing thought and a simple swing thought to have is once you get up to the top of the backswing, and once you're loaded up into that position, from the top of the backswing into the transition all you need to be doing is feeling like the hands and the right arm coming down, reconnecting with the body, and they're doing that in a very slow manner. So you want to be keeping that transition period very, very slow. The slower you can keep the transition period the more consistent it will be, and it will allow you to apply power as you move down throughout the rest of the downswing. So it's getting into the setup position that we've spoken about, getting nice and loaded at the top, but then taking your time with that transition. When you take your time with the transition it will lead to more power, don't be scared of slowing it down. And it will allow you to move from this position down into impact, and hit the ball much, much harder and with much more consistency.
