    Palmetto Golf Club Course Review

Visiting the Palmetto Golf Club youll be in for a real treat, as this baby is one of the oldest golf-related facilities in the United States, being founded way back in 1892. The Palmetto Golf Club rests quietly on a beautiful piece of real estate in South Carolina, being located only twenty miles north-east of Augusta in Aiken. Despite the fact that this is a private golf club, available just for its members and their guests, the Palmetto Golf Club actually opens 1 week per year for non members, under the punishment of a $195 fee. The golf course is very special in terms of design, and youll definitely admire the obsession for details in the green complexes and the beautiful holes which are built to fit in the topography almost perfectly. The course at Palmetto Golf Club is an excellent walking course, being a melange of natural landscape which is very understated in my opinion and a terrific golfing facility, built with perfection in mind.

The Palmetto Golf Club is a hidden gem without question and if youre a true golf aficionado, youll be amazed by its history. The club was founded by Thomas Hitchcock and there were numerous golf architects and designers that put their signatures and influences on the overall design, the likes of Donald Ross, Herbert Leeds, James Mackrell, Alister MacKenzie, Reese Jones and later Tom Doak and Gil Hanse in 2003/2007. The club hosted numerous pro golfers throughout its long history and the course features 6695 yards from its longest tees, being the definition of pure golf in terms of layout and design. Truth be told, the Palmetto Golf Club makes for one of the few pure-classics left in South Carolina and being available to public during Masters week, you should give it a shot, whilst being prepared for an European styled experience.
