    Sedgefield Country Club Course Review

A nice little piece of history. Sedgefield Country Club was once host to the Greater Greensboro Open, with the likes of Arnold Palmer, Sam Sneed, and Gary Player passing through this extravagant country club. Now host to the Wyndham Championship, Sedgefield is a true McConnell Golf Masterpiece.

The practice facilities are not the most immaculate you will ever come across, which is the only downfall to this club. The driving range is quite small, and can only hold about 30 golfers, which is not the most adequate on a busy summer day. The putting green and short game area, on the other hand, are outstanding. The chipping green has two big bunkers, and allows golfers to work on a number of shots from 30 yards and in, while the putting green is a monster and can hold at least 40 golfers at one time. The golf course is second to none, and the reason that the Wyndham Championship calls this club home. A beautiful Donald Ross masterpiece, leaves this club as the ONLY Donald Ross course on the PGA tour.

The greens were redone with Bermuda, and it makes for a challenge every time you set foot on Sedgefield. Dont expect to hit too many drivers during your visit, or you will bring a lot of trouble in to play. Stick to the long irons, and 3 woods to navigate your way through the tight track. All 4 of the par 5s are reachable in 2, and most of the par 4s will leave you with a short iron into the green hence the extremely low scores when the PGA tour arrives in mid-August. Sitting at just over 7,100 yards, it makes the par 71 a true test for any type of golfer, and I do not recommend passing up an opportunity to play this Donald Ross classic.
