Garden City Golf Club Course Review

The Garden City is a small private club and it has aged beautifully, being one of the oldest golf clubs in the United States, being located just east of New York city in the heart of a laid-back and prosperous little town in Long Island. Heres a place where you can enjoy a great game of golf, as it was meant to be played back in the day, while youll have an acute sensation that you were transported to another place in another time, when things were simpler and straight forward. The Garden City Golf Club was established in 1899 and its golf course wears the signatures of architects Walter J Travis and Devereux Emmet, being regarded by numerous golf historians as one of the best and most famous golf clubs of all times in the United States.

Playing golf here is like visiting a museum, if youre an art aficionado obviously, and keep in mind this is a private golf course, available just for its members and their guests. The clubs policy is walking only, with caddies provided by default and also men only, being quite unique in this regard (only male golfers are allowed to play). The old school feeling is striking and its obvious and ubiquitous from the moment you step inside the club house. Just to get an idea about how strictly the clubs policies are enforced, the patrons of the Garden City Golf Club are required to wear a suit jacket at all times. The golf course itself feels like a links course, featuring an intimate layout, wide fairways, with the tees being very close to the greens and with fescue grass used for lining the rough. The terrain upon the golf course was built is almost perfectly flat, featuring swift moving greens, deep bunkering and its gently contoured. The routing and the overall intimate atmosphere will provide you with that unique-old school sensation I was talking about in the beginning, making for a fun and challenging golfing experience round after round.
