What Should I Eat During My Round? (Video) - by Dean Butler

So what should I eat during the course of my round? Well, foods that release energy and you’ve got to have water. I get members coming into my shop on a Saturday, on a competition day and they are grabbing their Mars bars and the Snickers, eat chocolate bars and the fizzy sugary drinks. And I stand there and I say you know, that’s great but that’s going to be a very quick release of energy and then it’s all gone. And they take one drink and I’m saying you need to take out two, three bottles of water and take out food that is going to give to give you a slow release of energy. So on the way round we are looking at a banana, we are looking at nuts, raisins, seeds, these are great foods; lots of energy, the right sort of food to give you fuel and you know what to drink; sports drinks, water, those are the drinks that you should be having.

And oh the only thing I would add to this is every three or four holes, feed yourself right, I need to just refuel; just have a little bit of a drink, keep yourself nicely hydrated and keep yourself a little bit of food inside. I just do it a little often is the key and that’s what you should be doing not the other way round; not having one boost of sugar. Sugar on the golf course; there’s no place for it. Go healthy, refill and get yourself run that golf course feeling fitter and healthier than before.
