If you are looking to improve the strike of your irons when you are playing golf then this a great golf tip to help you do that. What you need to do if you do want to improve the strike on your irons is to start to work on getting a forward lean in the shaft as you connect with the ball. We see most of the more consistent players nowadays displaying that forward leaning position at impact. So from a good well balanced setup positions swing the club back and then work on as you swing in having the shaft leaning forwards. This is going to help you to make downward strikes on to the ball so club has to be moving downward onto the golf ball rather than flicking up at the golf ball. So what we tend to see most club golfers would do or beginners would be to swing back and then they’ll try to help the ball in the air by making these movement. So what happens is the club head will become low too early before the ball and then the club head will go up and make an upward strike at the ball and you’ll tend to catch the top of the ball or hit from the bottom of the golf club. So to get your iron improved and to get striking a lot better we are at more on hitting down with the club head into the ball and to do that you need to achieve this forward lean position.

So here is a couple of drills that will help you to achieve that, if you’ve got an impact bag you can use an impact bag for this drill but not everybody has one so if you don’t have one just use a range basket or an old plant pot or a box that you’ve got at home. You can do the exactly the same thing with that so place your impact bag or the basket that you are going to hit just to the left of the golf ball and then we’ll take the golf ball out. We’ll set up on what we are going to work on doing as if you’ve got a forward lean in that shaft, when you swing back in you are going to work on making the shaft hit the top of that object first. So if it's the impact bag the shaft sit on top of the impact bag rather than the club head flicking up into it. And you see you want to just work on making that action and nudging the basket forward in that way. So just topples forward but you will have this forward lean in the shaft as you do that. So that’s a good way to practice when you are at home or when you are on the range, if you don’t have anything like that but you do have your golf bag with you, you could do a similar thing if you place your golf bag so the stand is out, get the stand in line with where the golf ball would be and then you are just going to make some swings where you swing down into the ball keep the shaft leaning forward. And then just work on working stopping your swing here so you are in this position. If you flicked the club head the club head is going to go and hit the top of the bag so work on swinging down so the shaft of the club is in a vertical position, but it’s right next to the golf bag like that. And that will make sure that you lean in the shaft forward as you strike and if you get your shaft leaning forward through impact you are really going to notice a much better strike, you'll increase the distance that you can hit the ball and you will improve your accuracy as well.
