Armour was born in Akron, Ohio, in 1976. He still remembers playing golf with his family on a Sunday. After attending high school, at Walsh Jesuit High School in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, he studied at Ohio State University. While at college he was third team All-American. In 1993, he was successful in making it to the US Junior finals.
After turning professional in 1999, Armour played on the Hooters Tour and the Golden Bear Tour, before commencing playing on what was then the Nationwide Tour, and is now the Web.com Tour. In 2006, Armour finished in joint 13th place at qualifying school, earning him his card to play on the PGA Tour the following season.
He quickly lost his card again, in 2008 and went back to playing on the Nationwide Tour, where he played until the end of 2014, when he finished in 40th place on what was by then the Web.com, earning him his place back on the PGA Tour.
Away from the course, Armour is a family man, and lists the births of his sons as the most thrilling times of his life, outside golf.
As of the end of 2014, Armour was yet to achieve a win on the PGA Tour, but had amassed prize money of $1,217,487.
