Lee Dong-hwan was born in Seoul, South Korea, and is also known as D. H. Lee. He was encouraged in his love of golf by his father.
Lee turned professional in 2005, and he went on to play on the Japan Golf Tour, where he achieved two wins. From 2008 to 2011, Lee served in the South Korean air force. In 2012, Lee was a medalist at the PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament, after which time he began playing on the PGA Tour.
Lee has said that playing in the Open Championship in 2005, was one of the most thrilling times in his golf career.
Away from the course, Lee enjoys watching soccer, and is a fan of Real Madrid.
As of the end of 2014, Lee was yet to achieve a win on the PGA Tour, but had amassed total prize money of $1,021,435.
