For the following two seasons Steele played on the Canadian Tour where his best finish was second place at the Telus Edmonton Open in 2006. In 2008, Steele played on the Nationwide Tour for the first time, where he was successful in winning the season ending event, the Nationwide Tour Championship at Daniel Island. Achieving this win meant that Steele moved from thirtieth place to sixth place on the money list for that season. This is turn meant that he earned his card for the PGA Tour for the 2011 season.
Winning his first PGA Tour event led to big things for Steele. After his triumph at the Valero Texas Open, he wasn’t just $1.1 million richer, he also secured a tour card for 2013. In addition, he earned an invite to The Players Championship, as well as the Bridgestone Invitational, the 2011 PGA Championship, and the 2012 Masters.
