San Diego born Lunde has walked a somewhat chequered path since turning professional in 1998. After initially playing on the Nationwide Tour for several years, he decided to take a break from the course, and tried his hand first at sales, with the Las Vegas Founders, and then real estate. Having taken the break in 2005, Lunde came back into the golfing fold at the Butch Harmon Vegas Tour. It was at this event that he earned a place back on the Nationwide Tour for the 2008 season.

His first season back saw him achieve some level of success, with a win at the Nationwide Children's Hospital Invitational. He finished the season in fifth place on the Tour money list. Two years later Lunde tasted his first success on the PGA Tour when he won the Turning Stone Resort Championship.

Lunde has stated that he was introduced to golf by his grandfather, and that his proudest golfing moment was winning the NCAA Championship in 1998.

As of the end of 2014 Lunde has achieved one win on the PGA Tour, amassing prize money of $3,353,514.
