Plane Shifts - Ok If Shift Onto Plane Lesson by PGA Teaching Pro Adrian Fryer (Video)

There's a lot of talk on the Internet and in golf books about what is the correct plane is and of course we all want a golf swing like Adam Scott so somebody that is just moving the club up and down in similar lines. I'm just using get a little stick here to illustrate with the angle we want to move the club on but remember the golf club dictates that for you free of charge. The design of a golf club is giving you a big clue of the angle it would like to be swung on. Now if you are Jim Furyk or a player who shifts the club high like Bubba Watson you better make sure that you loop it back onto the plane. So it's not wrong to have that shift or that move or whatever you want to call it, but remember the idea is to get the club back to impact and design and use it as it's designed to be used. So in his case Furyk if he's going up and off plane and drops it back in that so that would be acceptable.

Conversely you might see other players who come this way and then over and you might say are you coming over the top, but that's not always the case. Many players may move the club on the plane and then back onto a plane. So whether your a player who swings high and then back to low or low and then high either one will work. If you start to get it in the correct delivery position and move it on the plane it's designed to be used to impact. Remember you don't hit the golf ball with the back swing the back swing prepares it, but it's a good golf swing the earns you the money the downswing. So we've got to get the downswing correct that's what's going to propel the ball towards the target so if you shift off and up make sure you get it back, if you shift under make sure you shift back of the plane. Ideally if you can practice in the mirror and get the feeling of the club working up and down similar planes that's ideal. That it going to produce more consistent shots than any 3 of those systems methods will work.
