Lanny Wadkins only has one major championship to his name at the 1977 PGA Championship. But he was a prolific player on tour spending countless weeks within the world’s top 10. And he has a fantastic and a very almost aggressive move as he starts his downswing which can help with sequencing with power and with leg drive actually through impact and through the shot. Now what Lanny Wadkins did, was as he throughout the backswing his left heel started to rise very, very slowly until the top of the backswing. But to actually initiate the downswing the left heel stamps, very, very hard into the ground.

And what that did for Lanny Wadkins is really act like a trigger to the downswing. As the left heel stamped down into the ground, the lower half began to drive, the leg movement was very, very aggressive and the upper body came along for the ride. And his swing speed and his tempo to the swing was very fast and very, very powerful. It was certainly a very, very aggressive move as he started the downswing. Now raising the left heel for a lot of people might not work. However, it can aid turn and it can aid power. So if you are still struggling for two of those things, then give it a go. Allow it to rise gradually during the backswing, and then stamp it down coming through the ball. And it can really add an extra whip and an extra little bit of energy as the ball is struck. So check out Lanny Wadkins swing, give it a go, and it might help improve those aspects of your game.
