Pacific Dunes Golf Club Course Review

The Pacific Dunes Golf Club was opened for players in 2001 and the golf course wears the design of the famous architect Tom Doak. Truth be told, this golf course is very different from others, actually remarkably different in terms of shot requirements and character, feeling more like it was discovered, not built by the human hand. The Pacific Dunes golf courses fairways are almost in their natural state, together with the bunkers, and they look like theyve been there for centuries. The course meanders through the undulating terrain, from the beautiful shore pines to the spectacular sixty feet sand-dunes. If youre not a very accurate shooter, a windy day at the Pacific Dunes will make for a truly challenging experience, because when the wind blows, laser accurate approach shots are absolutely necessary if you want to go home with a good score card.

The golf course is short enough to offer hope, but also rugged and tough enough to test your skills from any position. The Pacific Dunes Golf Club is a public facility, which is great in this writers opinion, and it was ranked 3rd for public courses and 19th overall in Golf Digests Top 100 Greatest Golf Courses in America in 2013-2014 and the first in its home-state Oregon. Some of the holes play near the ocean and while youre on the hill top, towering more than one hundred feet over the Pacific, youll be flabbergasted by the epic scenery which adds drama, beauty and exhilaration to your game. However, strong winds may play havoc with your game if you hit too high with a wedge or a low iron. Dont forget to bring a camera while playing the Pacific Dunes golf course, youll have the time of your life here.
