Work on your Putting Fundamentals with the Tee Drill for Square Impact Senior Golf Tip (Video) - by Dean Butler

This putting lesson I want to talk to you about the importance of keeping the putter face square a impact. Square simply means that the putter which was aligned up to the hole to start with, returns back to the ball and goes through in the same position so it stays online backwards and forwards.

Now we got a simple sort of drill here if had to go up. You can use two poles; put your golf ball in the middle at the two aligned up poles down here. I’ve got four golf balls on the inside and four on the outside and just give myself enough room not going to give myself two much room because that will defeat the objects that we want to do. This is called the gate drill and from here but using golf balls or even Tee packs you just put the Tee packs into the ground on the outing grain or use your Tee packs upside down if you at home on the carpet very simple exercise. Make sure you’ve aligned everything open the direction of the hole. Put your putter down behind the ball and obviously from here they should be equal distances from the hill to the ball and from the top the opposite and to the ball. Set yourself up and from here make sure your feet are parallel no good setting yourself up with your feet on the wrong position because that would encourage you to come in and catch the balls on the inside of your open I would encourage you to catch the ball on the outside of the line. So when you set yourself up its very important that you put that club face down the line, you put your feet running parallel, to the putter to hold line take your grip, get nicely close remember eyes over the top of the ball get eyes closed. There is no good being back here there is no good being over there eyes over the top of the ball. Put the ball put it a little bit far before where towards your left. I see too many golfers with the ball position in the middle. It’s not a good position to have it creates a very steep swing one that’s a chopping action and when you chop, there is always an element that’s sort of squeezing in and squirting the ball off the club face. So put the ball a little bit far forward in your stands at least it will help you to actually get a little bit more consistency in the role and more importantly a little bit more sort of top spin because you are hitting the up rather than down the ball. So let’s assume that you have taken that information you’ve got yourself to the right position. Now from here I have to concentrate enough to take that putter back between the line and the balls. So back and through now it’s going to help us the first time you can go and do the same thing get yourself as a practice putting grain your gotten the method just do a better practice and see the rewards.
