Okay so here we are on putting and we are going to talk about a pendulum stroke what it actually is. A pendulum stroke is something where we actually swing the putter as one unit where we set ourselves up and we concentrate with the arms hanging down from the shoulders holding the grip and then we swing with the shoulders. It’s almost like having a letter Y look at my arms going down other than the club shaft going down it creates the letter Y. What we want to do on the putting we want to try and maintain that position so back and forward you can see everything is in one unit there’s no wrist way going on.

You can clearly see that everything is out of control it’s loose it’s wide that doesn’t really associate with good putting. So we want to try and create this one unit where this letter Y and to create that – to help create that sort of pendulum going back we need to focus on looking from this angle where we set ourselves up with the eyes over the ball. The eyes over the ball is very very important the eyes are over the ball or slightly to the inside which is towards me than the putting stroke will be going back in a nice much straighter line back and straight through. If your eyes are on the outside of the putter you are going to have a tendency as you can see now I’m too far that way I’ll swing in the putter outside and of course if you do that and come across if the clip face is aiming on that direction that path you are going to pull the ball to the left of the putting and vice versa if the face was open. So there you get a good idea of pendulum of what we need and how important it is everything going as one unit. So there’s one little tip there and otherwise you moved to this side here we’ve got two head covers down, we’ve put the ball in between and what we are going to do from here is tell ourselves and keep the swing consistent so manage to leave the ball out to the way there. Take the putter back here and through so as you can see the body is staying still, the swing is consistently back and forth so what happens on a longer put? You can’t go and actually show I think try and hit the putt through very very simply because of the length from the swings. So if you’ve got a longer putt I’ve set myself up then what we would do is put two head covers further apart and concentrate on swinging the putter back and forward. There’s no need in this stage to try and swing that club any faster or any harder to get our ball further. Remember the length of the swing is going to dictate that, if you’ve got a short backswing and a short follow through and the pendulum is going to the same pole as the longer one the ball will travel shorter. If it gets over it and becomes longer and through with more length there’s a little bit more club speed and the tempo is still the same and you’ll get the ball rolling. So next time you go out and you want to try and work on this pendulum because remember I think you’ll find that a lot of you are guilty of actually using the wrists in the putting stroke. You’ve got to try and create one unit so you’ve got the information here a couple of simple drills come exercise for you to work on. You should get a lot more consistency in your putting, remember you strive for show but it’s poor for dough.
