The Correct Way To Hit A Power Fade For Distance And Accuracy – Golf Senior Driver Tip (Video) - by Dean Butler

Right. So what is a power fade? Well basically it’s a fade. A fade is a ball which does slightly left of your target line and moves back towards where the target line actually is, so it moves from the left and ends upon right of the target, that’s a fade. And a power fade really is just – somebody has created a saying but it’s still a fade. So we now know what is a fade, it’s one of the safest golf shots because when the ball lands it has a lot of sort of, sort of back spin on the ball so it lands very, very softly, so it doesn’t kind of bounce and keep going into the trees so that’s why a lot of the top players choose to play fades rather than draws.

Now the set up for this if you wanted to play as fade is always start the club behind the ball where you want the ball to start its journey. So there’s no good aim in the club face down for the flag, if you’re going to play a fade it’s going to aim finish to the right so aim the club slightly to the left where you wanted to start. Sort of putting your feet parallel, put your feet slightly open. If you want to fade the ball a lot then you can just open your stands even more so than what you’d normally do, that would allow you to come across the ball even more so but then you’re tripping on the maybe fade come slice, but remember it’s up to you how much fade you want to put on the ball. So the club face behind the ball where you want the ball to start, stand slightly open and from this what we’re going to do now just concentrate on swinging on the line of your feet so the feet just slightly across. So from here I’m going to concentrate now on just swinging the club there and there across the line. And that will put a little bit of slice spin on it. Now remember we’re not standing so open that we’re going to come across it and slice it, we’re only standing ever slightly open and the ball position slightly further forward. So that is actually how you actually play a fade. And as far as the swing is concerned well we’ve talked about its swing along the line of your feet is the easiest way to actually fade that golf ball. So if you want a power fade or fade it’s the same golf shots. It’s as simple as what we’ve just shown you, again go and practice it but out of the two shots of a fade and against the draw, the fade is the safer shot to play.
