So we're often told as golfers about how important gripping the golf club is and how we got to make sure we got the right hold on the golf club. Now, if you've developed a good grip on the club and you've got everything as it should be, that's great. But let's make sure we can try and maintain that good-quality grip but also maintain a good grip that produces the desired effect of having a square club face. So, see, some people, they take so long positioning their hands on the club perfectly, they actually forget to look where the club head is. Then if the club head is not right, they might try and manipulate the grip to try and get the club head in the right position. So let's just make sure that whenever we take a grip, the face is always one of the first things that we should consider.

Now, if you lift the golf club up to bellybutton height right in front of you again, you can see that that club face is vertical so it's pointing straight up in the air. Now, that's in a position for me to allow myself to get a good grip knowing that the face is square, knowing that when I tilt forward again, the face is back on line. So if I've got an alignment aide on the back of my golf clubs, like the Thomas golf products have, when I lift the golf club up here, the face is vertical, the alignment aide points at the target. I drop it down. My alignment aide is still pointing towards the target line; 100 percent sure that I've got a good grip and a good target line. All I now need to do is produce a decent swing that brings the club back square back to the ball. But at least I know I started from the perfect position to hit the perfect golf shot.
