Steve Stricker Uses A Specific Formula To Play Great Golf (Video) - by Pete Styles

In the modern game where the game is full of big bombers, guys driving comfortably over 300 yards on the carry, it’s nice to see somebody like Steve Stricker who is still able to top up the pension pot by playing good quality golf even when he – you know he’s playing a lot of less tournaments now if you like because he gets a little bit older in life. But he’s still able to compete with the big bombers, because he outsmarts them and he outsmarts golf courses and he out putts them and he out putts golf courses. And that’s a valuable lesson from a lot of golfers to learn, if you don’t feel like you can hit the ball as long and as far as you’d like to or as long as far as you're playing partners. Its quite a nice skill to still feel like you can able to compete, and if you look down the sort of long driving start, you're going to have to look a long way down that list until you see Steve Stricker’s name. But if you look down the money list and certainly the money per event played you're not going to have to look as far down that list for Stricker’s name, because he's winning more money than he should do in terms of how far he hits the golf ball. But he has a couple of key attributes to his game, one is he's very smart, he thinks about the game the right way, he plays the right shots at the right time and his course management skills are impeccable. The other thing that really benefits Steve Stricker’s game is he has a very, very good potter, there's no secret in that, even some of the best players in the world take lessons from Stricker to help them identify where their weaknesses are in the short game. Because I look and a guy thinking, “Well I played with him last week and I drove the ball 50 yards past him all day but he's beaten me, well I need to go learn from this guy what's he doing that I can do differently?” And I think its a valuable lesson for a club golfer to learn, if you don’t hit the ball as far as your playing partners or as far as you’d like, taking a mentoring session with somebody like Steve Stricker, watching what he does, watching how he handles himself in the golf course and particularly how he putts is something that would be quite valuable. And that’s something we’re going to try and do in these next few videos. 2015-10-15
