As golfers often age throughout their careers, I often hear people talk about how the game almost feels like it’s getting more difficult. Now one of the things you got to try and do to alleviate that is use technology and equipment advances, and the golf clubs you're using to make sure that you're taking the best advantage of the golf clubs that are available. One of the issues this is how your golf swing would change, and how physically you change as you get older. So what I would suggest is you can get custom fit throughout your set at least every five years. Now you might not do everything all in one go, but you want to just get custom fit every five years or even after any major injury or illness that you have that you might feel has affected your golf swing.

So a couple of things we're looking for there would be the shaft flex, the weight of the golf club, the type of shaft whether it's steal or graphite because that would affect the weight. The grip thickness, the lie angle, the head size, the loft of your driver, the makeup of your set whether you've got woods, irons, hybrids, wedges, maybe even the length of your putt particularly if you're struggling with a backache injury, the length of your putty could have a bit of an influence. If I just bring David in for a second, you're coming with your -what have you got here a 7-9? So we've got a 7-9, it's got a slightly thicker than standard grip on because David has quite large fingers as we've talked about before. He's got a light, flat shaft in it to account for a slightly slower swing speed.

And it has got a custom fit here for a couple fo degrees upright to make sure that when David stands to the golf ball, with his slightly close posture, and a slightly high hand position is maybe not as athletic when he was lower down here with a slightly flatter swing. So the shaft and the set up that you have in your golf clubs is really important. What I would suggest is as your golf swing changes, maybe every five years, go for a full custom fit, make sure you got the right lofts, the right shafts, and the right makeup and set up throughout your set. The golf game is difficult enough as you get older and you lose this and it gets more difficult. Make the game as easy as possible, take advantage of the golf clubs that are available to you.
