Bit of a terminology name, you might have heard about Progressive Offset Irons if you considered looking at changing your golf clubs. Now the progressive offset is a term that we use to describe how the club set isn’t necessarily going to look all the same right the way through the back. So the offset nature is this little curve here having the leading edge of the golf club actually sits very fractionally behind the leading edge of the shaft that’s your offset. Progressive offset means it gets more in your longer irons, leading edge will be further back and less with your shorter irons where the leading edge will be more level to the front of the shaft.

Now the progressive nature means that actually when you go to your longer clubs the club is designed to help you out, particularly trying to help you get the ball air ball and by helping you to not slice the ball as much with your bigger clubs which is often a common factor for people who would look for progressive offset irons. By having the weight further back behind the shaft, we create a lower and deeper center of gravity, center of gravity that now wants to line up with the shaft and actually creating more dynamic loft, helping you hit the ball up a little bit.

Also by having the center of the, the leading edge of the face, behind the leading edge of the shaft, you actually allow yourself a little bit more time to square the club up, the club about is fraction and delayed as it gets to impact, helping it be square and not open producing those slicing shots for the right hander and likewise down the left hand side for the left hander.

So progressive offset helps you out a little bit more in the long irons but will still give you the control and the better appearance the nice looking golf clubs in the shorter irons. If you struggle to get the ball up in the air and slice the golf ball a little bit, but you still want a good looking set with your short irons, I would suggest you would try and looking at some progressive offset irons.
