So, if you want more club head speed, and the previous drill referred to the fact you would swing two clubs together to generate extra strength and extra power. This next drill and exercise is designed to just get you releasing the golf club at the right time, releasing that power to pure club head speed.

So, what I want to encourage you to do is take a swing stick, if you got an alignment like this and start swinging this, alternatively, you can just take your own driver, but hold it upside down, so you hold right at the club head and you have the grip down the bottom like this. Now, when you make your swing, the club makes a little swooshing noise. You can hear it swoosh. It feels very light. It feels like you can really move the club head or the swing stick very quickly. It doesn't take a lot of effort, but it takes a good deal of timing and releasing. If I do it correctly, you can really hear that speed of the club head. If I do it incorrectly and don't release the golf club, it's very difficult for me to get that noise the same as if I release it with the proper whip.

You'll start to feel where the speed is within your swing. We don't really want the speed here. If you're getting the swooshing noise here, it shows your hands and arms are releasing too quickly. Likewise, if you get the swoosh noise up there in the finish, it's happening too late. It's really important you focus on making the loudest noise possible right down at the golf ball. When you're swinging with your swing stick or your upside down driver shaft, make sure it stays off the floor. Don't let it hit the floor. Turn back nicely and then really go to town in that follow-through.

Accompanying the two club drills, the two clubs creates the power, upside down golf club or swing stick creates the release and the speed. Do a couple of steps doing 10 with the two clubs, 10 with the lightweight stick, 10 with the two clubs, 10 with the lightweight stick, then pick up your driver as normal, a couple of practice swings just to get used to the length and the weight of this on its own and you should feel then that you've got the strength of the two clubs with the speed of the upside down shaft, put those two together, more speed, more power, more release, more distance there for longer tee shots.
