The Callaway Odyssey O-Works V-Line Fang CH Putter retails from $199.99 (MSRP) and it’s already a star in the company’s line-up, as it made it on Golf Digest 2017 Hot List Gold Medal Winner. To describe it in a few words, the Odyssey O-Works V-Line Fang CH Putter makes for a crank hosel mallet featuring the famous Microhinge Face Insert, a high contrast Versa alignment, perimeter weighted fangs (hence its name), a sole weighting and, as usual, a Superstroke grip. To put it simply, the Odyssey O-Works V-Line Fang CH Putter comes with a plumber’s neck on a fang like shaped head, which together with the patented Microhinge Face Technology will provide you with a unique putting experience. I really believe that Odyssey created their best face insert yet with their latest Microhinge Face, which is to be found in all O-Works putters, including this baby.

What’s really special about the Odyssey O-Works V-Line Fang CH is its fairly new head-shape, which makes for a big improvement in Callaway’s golf-gear paraphernalia. Unlike Callaway’s blade options, the Odyssey O-Works V-Line Fang CH comes with the Versa 90 pattern, i.e. the alignment aid in this putter is not parallel, but perpendicular to the face. If you flip this baby over, you’ll be able to admire some nice laser etched graphics and red weights. Now, in terms of sound and feel, the V-Line Fang CH putter is somewhat different from the rest of the bunch in the O-Works line, as it has a softer and more muted feel compared to the blades in the line-up, yet without getting mushy. And that’s due to its wider (and also perimeter weighted) head, which absorbs the impact of the ball in a different way. Performance wise, due to its plumber’s neck and the full shaft offset, not to mention the excellent hybrid face-insert, the Callaway Odyssey O-Works V-Line Fang CH Putter works admirably, as it feels perfectly balanced and makes good strokes a child’s play, providing a very nice ball roll and instant topspin. If you’re looking for pure roll and soft feel with precise response, the Callaway Odyssey O-Works V-Line Fang CH Putter is worth a look, especially if you want something a little bit non traditional.
