    Born in Windhoek, South-West Africa in 1959, Dodds went on to study General Business and Industrial Engineering at Lamar University, before turning professional as a golfer in 1985. In 1990 he achieved a win at the Ben Hogan Kansas City Classic. This was followed by further wins at the NIKE Miami Valley Open in 1997 and the 2001 BUY.com Virginia Beach Open. Dodds was also successful in winning the Canadian Tour Order of Merit in 1995 and 1996. In 1998 he achieved his first win on the PGA Tour, at the Greater Greensboro Chrysler Classic. Altogether, Dodds has achieved wins on the PGA Tour, the Nationwide Tour, the Sunshine Tour and the Canadian Tour.
