After turning professional, Herron played on the Nationwide Tour, before winning on the PGA Tour for the first time, at the Honda Classic in 1996. In his first four seasons playing at the top level in golf, Herron achieved victory on three occasions. Although he continued to play consistently it was not until 2006 that he won on the PGA Tour for the fourth time, at the Bank of America Colonial.
