    Born in Huntsville, Alabama, in 1973, Cink graduated from Bradshaw High School, before attending Georgia Tech in Atlanta from where he graduated in 1995, with a degree in Management. While at college, Cink played on the Yellow Jackets golf team. After graduating from college, Cink turned professional in 1995.

    Cink started his professional career playing on the Nike Tour, which is now known as the Web.com Tour. He won three events on the Nike Tour in 1996 which meant that he qualified to play on the PGA Tour the following season. During his first season on the Tour, Cink achieved his first win, at the Canon Greater Hartford Open. Over the next few seasons Cink continued to play on the PGA Tour and his form remained at a consistent level. In 2004 he finished in fifth place on the Tour money list. Five years later, in 2009, Cink impressed with his win at the Open Championship. He achieved this win by beating veteran Tom Watson into second place.

    After this momentous win, Cink struggled to maintain the same level of form and continued to play on the PGA Tour only as a result of an exemption through 2014.

    Away from the course Cink is a family man who is married to Lisa. The couple has two sons, Conor and Reagan. The family are practicing Christians. 

    As of the end of 2014, Cink had achieved six wins on the PGA Tour, amassing total prize money of $32,818,872.
