    Streck was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1954. He started playing golf at a very young age, at the encouragement of his father. In high school, Streck played All-State basketball, as well as golf. After school, Streck began studying at the University of Tulsa, where he also played golf. After leaving college, Streck turned professional in 1976.

    Streck was the first player on the PGA Tour to play with metal woods; he was also the first person to win with them, at the Michelob-Houston Open, in 1981. He was also the first player to achieve a win on all three professional tours in the US, Nationwide, PGA and Champions.

    Away from the course, Streck is family man, who is married with three children. His youngest son is named Reagan, after former US President, Ronald Reagan.

    As of the end of 2014, Streck had achieved two wins on the PGA Tour, amassing total prize money of $815,346.
