    Green started his career on the Australasian Tour and would play on the Canadian Tour in the off season. His only Australasian Tour win came in 2000 at the Queensland PGA Championship. He decided to try his hand at gaining his PGA Tour card. Green failed to qualify from Q School numerous times but started to play on the Nationwide Tour in 2002. It was in 2005 that Green had his breakout season. He registered five top 10s including two 3rd places and a runner-up finish at the Jacob's Creek Open Championship. He ended the year 19thon the money list and as a result won his first ever PGA Tour card.

    He played 30 times in his rookie season and made the cut on 24 occasions. He had an amazing start to the season, finishing 5th at the Sony Open in Hawaii and followed that up with a play-off loss to Tiger Woods at the Buick Invitational a week later. He ended the season with a very solid six top 10 finishes and was 41st on the money list. He put the icing on the cake in 2006 with a win on the European Tour event in his native country, the Blue Chip New Zealand Open after a final round of 65. Green would capture his first (and only to date) PGA Tour win in 2009. This win came at the RBC Canadian Open after a play-off with Retief Goosen. It was his only top 10 fininsh of the season. Green would lose his card after the 2012 season. His best finish in a Major Championship was a tie for 23rd at the 2007 PGA Championship.
