    Jimenez turned pro in 1982 and didn’t play on the European Tour until 1988. The first of 21 European Tour wins came in 1992 at the Piaget Belgian Open where he won by an emphatic four shots. He is in a tie for 10th on the list of career European Tour wins. His first multiple win season came in 1998 when he won the Turespana Masters Open Baleares and the Trophée Lancôme. He ended the season 4th on the money list, a position he also reached in 1999, 2004 and 2008. He won twice again the following year and also finished runner-up to Tiger Woods after a play-off at the prestigious WGC-American Express Championship. He represented Europe in the Ryder Cup for the first time in 1999 and went on to play in the 2004, 2008 and 2010 renewals. He has been an assistant captain at the event on numerous occasions. He is widely tipped to become the Ryder Cup captain in the next few years having huge experience playing in the Seve Trophy, Royal Trophy and Ryder Cup.

    Jimenez won four times on Tour in 2004, the year he turned 40 years old. Fourteen of his twenty one wins have come since turning 40. The biggest win of his career came in 2008 at the European Tour flagship event, the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth where he defeated Oliver Wilson in a play-off. His best finish in a Major Championship was a tie for 2nd behind Tiger Woods at the 2000 US Open at Pebble Beach. At the end of 2012, Jimenez broke his leg in a skiing accident. He bounced back to win two events since. He has captured the Hong Kong Open on four occasions. He holds the record for the oldest winner on the Tour. He became eligible for the Champions Tour in 2014 and won on his debut at the Greater Gwinnett Championship by two strokes over Bernhard Langer.
