Letzig was an All American freshman at the University of New Mexico and was teammates with PGA Tour players Will Collins and Spencer Levin. After graduating in 2003 he turned pro. He plied his trade on the various mini Tours in the United States for a number of years, winning a couple of events in the process. His first full season on the Nationwide Tour came in 2007. He played 28 events and had a total of seven top 10 finishes. This included two 3rd places and a runner-up finish at the Tour Championship. Letzig finished the season 12th in the rankings and won his first ever PGA Tour card as a result.

He played 26 times in his rookie season, making the cut on 15 occasions. He had a total of five top 10 finishes and his career best result came at the Ginn sur Mer Classic where he finished runner-up to Ryan Palmer in what was the last event of the season. He would end his rookie year 93rd on the money list – career best finish. He would lose his card after the 2011 season. He regained his main Tour card in 2012 after successfully coming through Q School. He duly lost it again and is now playing mainly on the Canadian Tour. He won his first PGA sanctioned event in 2015 on the Canadian Tour at the SIGA Dakota Dunes Open after a play-off.
