The situation changed in 2009, when he automatically retained his card, having finished in 113th place on the money list. In 2010 Stroud won $237,500 when he tied for 10th at The Players Championship. Three years later he achieved his best PGA Tour finish, when he finished second at the 2013 Travelers Championship.

As of the end of 2014, Stroud was yet to achieve a PGA Tour win, but had amassed prize money of $8,271,552.
