Anna Nordqvist, the tall native of Sweden, excelled as an amateur in Europe where she began playing the game as a thirteen year old.  She was a two time Swedish Junior Player of the Year and won the British Girls’ Open Amateur in 2005.  She finished runner up in the 2006 and 2007 British Ladies Amateur before winning it in 2008.

She attended college overseas in the United States at Arizona State University where she finished as Pac 10 co-champion and Pac 10 player of the year her freshman season.   In 2008, she finished in fifth place at the NCAA Championships.

Nordqvist got her first taste of the Major championships as an amateur player, making the cut at the Women’s British Open in 2007 and 2008.

It turns out she was just getting started.  After qualifying as a professional in her first attempt, Nordqvist won her first professional tournament in just her fifth start.  Amazingly, Anna’s victory was a Major, the 2009 LPGAChampionship.  She followed up that win five months later by capturing the 2009 LPGA Tour Championship and finished the year in 15th place on the money list.

Nordqvist began competing on both the LPGA and the Ladies European Tour.  She won on the Ladies European Tour in 2010 and 2011.  She won twice during the 2014 LPGA season.  She has eight top ten finishes in the Major championships.

Anna made history in 2013 by recording the first hole-in-one in Solheim Cup history.  She is currently the 15th ranked women’s player in the world. Nordqvist credits her Swedish national coaches and her family for helping her become a touring professional.
