TaylorMade TOUR PREFERRED MB IRONS Review

The TaylorMade Tour Preferred irons are some of the best looking pieces of golf-gear I’ve seen in a while; they’re the pinnacle of true blades, definitely aimed at players only! Okay, I may sound a little bit pompous, but the MB stands for Muscle Back and I bet that if you’re a TaylorMade aficionado, you’re already drooling, waiting to put your hands on these babies.

If not, I bet my review will turn you around! Design wise, the Tour Preferred MB irons are available in a brushed-chrome finish and they feature a beautiful and relatively thin sole and topline. If you take a closer look, you’ll understand what I mean by “pure blade”, believe me. They have that “player’s club” appearance, especially due to their minimal design, being a classy and sharp looking iron. The old-school impression gets further as you’re hitting the ball. The sound made by the MB irons upon impact is very classy, just like those pre-2000 irons, and the feel is a bit on the firm side, despite their forged carbon blade built. Performance wise, due to their KBS Tour Shafts, the MB irons perform as you’d expect from a true classic blade, offering great distance and higher ball trajectories than you’d be usually accustomed with. They’re fairly easy to use but they’re not for faint-hearted golfers, being relatively tough and unforgiving if not used properly. However, if you get the taste of it, sort to speak, they offer huge amounts of feel and control, helping you hit the ball straight round after round. Being forged from 1025 carbon steel for maximum feel, with short blade lengths, compact head sizes and minimal offset, the Tour Preferred MB irons are designed for the accomplished golfers who seek consistency in ball striking , having a workable, solid feel and a classic design.
