Scioto Country Club Golf Course Review

The golf course at Scioto Country Club was designed by one of the worlds best architects, Donald Ross, and its widely regarded as a great achievement in terms of golf-course architecture. Also, this almost legendary golf course marks the place where a very young Jack Nicklaus perfected his game under the supervision of the famous golf-teacher Jack Grout. Today, the golf course at Scioto Country Club is ranked consistently high among the best in the United States. During its long and rich history, the Scioto Country Club hosted all sorts of prestigious golfing events, the likes of the US Open in 1926, the Ryder Cup in 1931, the PGA Championship in 1950, the US Amateur Championship in 1968 and the US Senior Open in 1986. Founded way back in 1916, the Scioto Country Club has a rich heritage and besides a world class golfing experience, it offers its visitors an indoor golf practice facility, swimming pools, a fitness facility and tennis courts.

But obviously, the Scioto Country Club is everything about golf first and foremost, making for one of Donald Rosss best designs ever, boasting its greens which are artfully and quietly tucked into the landscape, the gentle contours of the approaches and the masterfully designed routing. The philosophy behind this golf course is to place a premium on course management and strategy. Playing the Scioto Country Club makes for a great privilege and an unforgettable experience, but remember that this golf resort is a private facility, available just for its member and their guests. Also, despite sitting in the company of other world-class resorts like the Scarlet Course at Ohio University, designed by Alister McKenzie or Pete Dyes The Golf Club, the Scioto Country Club managed to preserve its prestige and thats pretty impressive in this writers opinion.
