Hazeltine National Golf Club Course Review

The Hazeltine National Golf Club was founded way back in 1962 and it wears the signatures of famous architects Robert Trent Jones Sr. and Rees Jones (his son who later improved the original routing), who designed the golf course out of pure love for the game. Truth be told, this golf course is as fun as it gets and a lovely place to take a stroll and spend an afternoon in a beautiful location , yet its truly demanding, as the Hazeltine National Golf Club is all about golf in its purest form. Located in Carver Country, twenty miles south-west of Minneapolis in the State of Minnesota, the Hazeltine National Golf Club is a private resort available for its members and their guests only.

The fairways and greens feature bent grass, 7010 yards of golf from its longest tees and it was ranked 94th by the reputable magazine Golfs Digest in its 2013-2014 Top One Hundred Greatest Golf Courses in the United States, also 3rd in its home state. The Hazeltine National Golf Club was instantly recognized across the United States after it hosted the US Open only 8 years after its opening. And truth be told, the golf course was built and designed for hosting major championship events, its in its genes sort to speak. The layout is very demanding and it will put to the test absolutely every aspect of the game: accuracy, length and finesse. The rolling terrain upon which the golf course was built is very straight forward, boasting an interesting mlange of trees, prairie and water hazards, delivering the purest golfing experience imaginable due to its long and difficult layout. The terrain is relatively hilly, whilst the course has small greens and narrow fairways, with 9 of its holes featuring water hazards. The signature hole at Hazeltine National Golf Club is definitely the par four sixteen and the golf course comes with a slope rating of 155 and a course rating of 78.
